About the Author

Late-bloomer Elizabeth "Liz" Moore Kraus enrolled in college at forty-two and six years later earned her M.A. in English Literature. After a much beloved teaching career of twenty years, she retired from Ventura College in 2019. During Liz's many travels, she has kept journals, all becoming placeholders in her bookcase. COVID and five jigsaw puzzles later, Liz had no other choice but to take her most recent journal from the shelf and write this memoir, her debut book.

Reader Reviews

"This beautifully written memoir has done the impossible for me. It has changed my whole perspective on memoirs and opened my eyes to reading more of them. The three Moore sisters, all in their sixties take on England, Ireland and Scotland in all their glory. With different personalities they navigate traveling together with humor, respect and perseverance. I loved that they all got to choose a country that they were responsible for making the accommodations for and arranging the sites to see. A brilliant idea that put them all on an even playing field. Not only was the memoir written with humor but it wove a personal side into their travels that allowed the reader to get to know all their unique personalities. This made it more authentic and genuine with a true understanding on how difficult it was to keep the sister tent intact. I loved everything about this book. The description of the scenery and the locals intertwined with a touch of history that I found fascinating. A definite five star read that I recommend to all for its in-depth knowledge of culture and respect for individuality. Kudos on your debut Liz."- Donna S

"Finished 3 Sisters yesterday. LOVED IT!! You've done a marvelous job at weaving family history into the journey as backstory for the emotional "triggers" for each of you...especially the section on sons v daughters. Your story resonates for so many sisters/long time friends. Bravo Liz! And very well done. Can't wait to share with my sisters, extended sisters, and sister-friends. Enjoy your success, it is well earned!" -K. Sofley

"Liz, just finished the book. I laughed out loud at times and teared up at others. I too am the middle sister and we three have traveled together. (Not 3 weeks) They're both eager to read your book. Well done, Liz!" -S. Westfield

"Having always wanted a sister- and loving to travel- I looked forward to reading this book, yet I had no idea it would take me on such an adventure of emotions! From "laugh-out-loud funny" to "I-feel-your-hurt-and-tears" and back again, Liz took me on a trip I wasn't expecting at all. She carefully lifted the flap of The Sister Tent, invited me in, and allowed me to experience sisterhood as an insider. I loved being effortlessly transported from the events of each travel day to the underlying family history, which gave each day its unique challenges and unexpected gifts. This story of love, trust, and sisterhood is a gem! Highly recommend! (No sister required)" -M. Adams
